Very poor communication. Child comes home with bruises, scratches, and no communication or accident reports given. My child has told me what happened and when addressed with staff or director they act like I am the crazy one for showing concern. In one ear and out the next. The don’t engage the children. Always cleaning and with miserable faces like they would rather be somewhere else. There’s diversity in the class but not with the staff. Witnessed a scolding to a “Caucasian” little girl when it was the “black” child’s fault. The scolding was harsh and inappropriate, not gentle correction but mad raised voice. Kids do whatever they want, pick up is chaos, and they still don’t allow parents in the class to the cubbyholes resulting in many mix ups and frustration. My fully potty trained child was sent home in a diaper 2x just “because she asked for one”! Serious poor reason. My child did not start here so I have another daycare to compare with which has 4 stars…..this daycare is 2 thumbs down. They do not know your child, your child is just a number and annoyance it seems and there’s 0 communication which is sad as they spend at least 40 hrs per week there. I would change if I could but no spots are available and my child will start school soon.

I registered my daughter for the Toddler program at the new Oshawa McLaughlin location and they processed my credit card for $250. Few issues that have happened along the way but I'll focus on the main one. A few days before she was suppose to start *but wouldn't have because there was a delay in them getting their licensing* I sent an email to ask who would be her teacher and how many other kids in her class. They responded that she will actually be put into the Junior class room (kids aged 2.5 to 4 years old). I called them right away to see why nobody had advised me prior. I was to show up the day of and find out she would be with older kids. It's not just the fact of older kids but it is the teacher student ratio. In the toddler room they have 1:5 ratio. In the Junior room they have a 1:8 ratio. Now my daughter would be with a lot more older kids tougher than her and she would have less help from a teacher. I did not feel comfortable with that. They were also not going to change the fee that I had to pay. I was still going to have to pay the higher toddler rate even though the teacher ratio was lower. The other kids in the Junior room would be paying less in the exact same class with the exact same attention. This made no sense to me. I explained that my husband and I didn't feel comfortable and we would be pulling her from SKD until there was a separate toddler room available for her. I asked for my $200 ($50 was a non refundable fee) refund back and have been told "In consultation with my executive director, no refund will be issued " I find the school to be very unprofessional. They did not have the correct class for my daughter and now I am being punished. Poor ethics on SKD's part. If you cannot provide the classroom, you should refund their money.

A staff member was accused of physically assaulting a young child at the Adelaide location and SKD has kept her working there without even warning or notifying other parents because they are short staffed. SHAMEFUL and DANGEROUS to our children!

The staff are very rude and they treat you like you’re sending your child for free. Very unprofessional!
