  I had put my kid here for 2 weeks and saw no improvement. My child was crying everyday for 2 weeks straight during his time there. The teacher did not take initiative to talk about next steps or discuss triggers with myself. I requested a phone call that went south and the teacher categorized me and said “I’m that type of mom” . A mom concerned for her 2.5 year old child in transition phase of his first placement in a daycare in his entire life is apparently something to be categorized for. There is a detailed schedule of what they do by the hour but the teacher could not tell me what my child did and rather responded “did you not see the photos I sent you last week?” A photo is a snapshot of 1 second in his entire day spent there and I cannot be notified of other things he did? The teacher started with “I am sorry I should have updated you a week prior regarding his progress” and ended with “I take a lot of pride in my communication” and got defensive. Extremely contradictory. I personally would never recommend to anyone.

  Durham Montessori School and Daycare has been such a blessing for our family! My daughter attended for the past two years, and the growth we’ve seen has been incredible. Her confidence has soared, and her math and writing skills have improved tremendously thanks to the wonderful teachers and curriculum. A special mention to Ms. Grixti, who encouraged our little one to always try, even when things felt hard. In her final year in CASA 3, she not only strengthened her academic skills but also learned leadership by helping the younger students in her class. Durham Montessori School and Daycare fosters collaboration, leadership, and empathy, shaping children both academically and personally. It truly is more than a daycare—it’s a school that nurtures the whole child. My child is now entering grade one with confidence, leadership skills, and a strong foundation for the future. My only regret is that we didn’t enroll her sooner! I highly recommend Durham Montessori School and Daycare to any parent looking for a caring, enriching environment for their child.

  Our daughter just graduated from Durham Montessori School and Daycare, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible foundation she received. From a young age, DMSD helped her develop strong academic and social skills that have truly prepared her for Grade 1 and beyond. The school uses a very convenient app to communicate with parents, share updates, and send pictures—such a great way to stay connected to your child’s day. They also host wonderful events that enrich the learning experience and create lasting memories for both kids and parents. If you’re a parent looking for a daycare or school where learning starts early, and where your child will be nurtured, challenged, and celebrated, I highly recommend DMSD. It’s been a fantastic start to our daughter’s education journey!

  Our experience at Durham Montessori School has been nothing short of amazing! Having our daughter enrolled in this school has been one of the most rewarding and transformative decisions we’ve made as parents. The Montessori approach at Durham Montessori School is more than just a teaching philosophy. In just a few months, we’ve witnessed incredible growth in our daughter’s independence, confidence, and curiosity. At the age of 3.5, she now speaks fluently, recognizes all the colors, confidently names the continents, and has mastered letter and number recognition. We were pleasantly surprised when one day she came home humming O Canada! — a beautiful reminder of how joyful and meaningful her learning journey at school has been. A huge shoutout to the phenomenal Casa 2 teachers — your warmth, patience, and unwavering dedication has made all the difference. It’s clear you see, understand, and celebrate every child as an individual.   An Amazing Experience at Durham Montessori School and Daycare! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Durham Montessori School and Daycare! After a disappointing experience at a CWELCC daycare ($10/day) where my daughter was often sent home with a full diaper, dirty clothes and face, and little to no communication from her teachers—we knew we had to make a change. From the moment we enrolled her at Durham Montessori, we saw an immediate and incredible difference! The staff here are caring, attentive, and truly dedicated to each child’s development. Communication with her teachers was excellent; I always knew how her day went and what she was learning. She came home every day clean, happy, and excited to go back. Within just the first month, she developed independence, learning how to put on and take off her shoes and jacket all by herself. One of the most impressive things has been her academic progress. She is learning French every day and now calls out things around the house in French! She has also already learned the names of all the provinces and territories of Canada, which amazes us. Durham Montessori School and Daycare has truly been a game-changer for our family. If you are looking for a nurturing, structured, and enriching environment where your child will thrive, I highly recommend this school!
