My two year old’s attended a home daycare administered by this organization for only two partial days in November 2025, before I withdrew them. My experience raised concerns about the provider’s capacity to manage normal toddler behaviour, as well as the organization’s lack of follow-up. Daycare Experience: This was my children’s first introduction to childcare away from parent(s). Within hours on both days, I received texts about how they had a mostly hard time adjusting and then on the second day, I received early pickup requests due to completely normal adjustment behaviours: crying, hesitation, and difficulty separating. These are all age-appropriate for toddlers who have never been in care. During this time, the provider also made comments implying that my son was arriving in a full diaper from overnight. This was incorrect and concerning. My children are always changed before leaving home, and one of my children urinates more frequently than the other, due to high fluid intake - something I explained and that the provider observed. Despite this, the comment was repeated in a way that suggested a misunderstanding of his needs rather than an actual issue. There were also unsolicited and unjust comments made about our financial ability to afford childcare, which were unprompted and inappropriate. I never expressed an inability to pay. These comments were surprising and unprofessional. No concerns were raised with me directly at pickup on either day. Any concerns were only mentioned later, after I asked questions myself. From my perspective, the provider appeared overwhelmed by the transition needs of toddlers new to daycare. Next: Withdrawal & Lack of Organizational Follow-Up After two partial days, I withdrew my children. I did not file a complaint, criticize the provider, or request further action. What stood out was that no one from the organization contacted me to ask why a parent had suddenly pulled two toddlers from care after less than a week - something I assumed would be standard practice for quality assurance and child well-being. There was: • no inquiry, • no follow-up, • no check-in, • no request for feedback, • and no concern expressed for whether the provider was struggling or whether my children were. For a licensed childcare organization, this lack of follow-up was alarming. Next: CAS Involvement One week after withdrawal, I received a call from Children’s Aid Society regarding a report made by the provider. CAS completed their review and closed the file within two weeks with no concerns. I cooperated fully, and the matter was resolved quickly. The timing and rapid closure of the case speak for themselves. Overall - Based on my experience: - Normal toddler behaviours during the transition into care appeared to overwhelm the provider. - Incorrect assumptions were made about my child’s diapering and care at home. - Communication was inconsistent and reactive rather than transparent and timely. - And the organization showed no interest whatsoever in understanding why a family withdrew abruptly. If your child is already daycare-adapted, your experience may differ. But for parents whose toddlers are new to childcare and need supported transitions, this environment was not equipped. I’m sharing this experience so other families can make informed decisions.
